Republic Day 2026 - Jum ir-Repubblika

Republic Day (Jum ir-Repubblika) is a national public holiday celebrated on 13 December, marking the anniversary of Malta becoming a republic in 1974. The main state celebrations take place in St George's Square, Valletta, where the Presidential Colour is trooped through the ranks of the Armed Forces of Malta, with the salute taken by the President as commander in chief. The ceremony features the AFM Band, a guard of honour and a formal march-past, alongside awards ceremonies and fireworks. Free to attend.
